Dena Linn Fiction

I won! I'm so excited!

I am a new writer, a Covid writer. That is to say I started writing because all my other activities were shut down with the lock down in 3/20. Creating some daring or chilling stories, tales that made me nervous or cry, well it just felt like the thing to do as I was basically ‘trapped’ my tiny home.

Fast forward to 2022, and Reedsy.com (The site I’ve used to find  proofreaders and editors) sent me a short story prompt:  #127: Gut Feelings -intuition, and the strange way we sometimes know what to do, or not and connect it to December 31st and the New Year.

In a flash, memories flew through my mind of New Year’s celebrations, forever love that isn’t, and of terrible illnesses that are beyond scary (like Covid).  I wrote a short story and submitted it to Reedsy.

Then, what is a beginning writer’s total dream come true, I got an email from Reedsy,

“Hey Dena, thank you for submitting ‘The Problem Is’ to the Reedsy Writing Prompts Contest!  You Won! 👏 Your story was a heartbreaking and poignant reflection on the end of a man’s life, and really touched our judging panel. Bravo!”
